Tips & Tricks: Three ways to find Workday reference guides

Workday Reference Guides can be accessed several ways. Whether you’re in search of a specific guide, or are simply browsing what’s available, one of the following platforms can help you find what you’re looking for.

The Workday Service Desk

If you’re looking for guidance on a specific process, or already know the title of the reference guide you need, the Workday Service Desk can help you access materials quickly and easily. In the Service Desk, you can:

  • Use the Search field to find guides and articles by keyword or title.
  • Access the Workday Materials page for a list of all available reference guides.
  • Submit a ticket for assistance, if needed.

The Modernization Website

The Modernization Website can be a great starting point for those looking for general and recommended training based on job duties or security roles. If you’re not sure where to begin in your training journey, visit the Modernization website to:

  • Explore recommended training and Workday help for general employees, managers, and faculty, or by functional area on the Workday Training & Resources page. These pages offer links to important general guides, as well as guides for specific actions related to each role or area.
  • Find links to other helpful resources, including Elevating Cougs recordings, and non-Workday information such as WSU policies and central business unit web pages.

In Workday

You can access guides and resources directly from Workday using two methods. Here’s how:

  • Within select business processes, such as “Delegation” or “Change Job,” you can find links to reference materials in the help text at the top of the process page. Please note that not all business processes feature help text with guides.
  • From the Main Menu, access the “Helpful Links to Reference Guides & Resources” App to quickly navigate to:
    • The Workday Service Desk
    • The Workday for… training pages on the Modernization website
    • Elevating Cougs recordings
    • If the app is not in your Main Menu, follow the instructions in the “Use The Global Navigation to Access Apps and Shortcuts” section in the Tools and Navigation guide.

If you find an error or would like to recommend an update to a reference guide or web page, please submit a Support Materials ticket in the Workday Service Desk.

Through February 16, you can also submit your feedback about Workday training materials and communications via the 2024 Workday Training and Communications Survey. Learn more about how we’re using your feedback to plan and improve Workday resources, or take the survey now.
