Workday Training Essentials for Managers

How will managers and supervisors be impacted by Workday?

The switch to Workday starting in December 2020 impacts all WSU faculty and staff directly, and all WSU employees are encouraged to take the steps necessary to prepare for the transition. This includes managers and supervisors, who will be required to transition from legacy systems and forms to Workday to perform their managerial responsibilities.

Tasks that were previously performed using paper forms, and in systems such as myWSU, will now be performed in Workday, such as:

  • Time and leave reporting
  • Overtime requests and approvals
  • Recruitment and onboarding
  • Compensation
  • Personnel actions and position management
  • Scheduling

Which trainings should managers and supervisors take?

On-demand training is available to all WSU employees to help prepare for the switch to Workday. This training may be accessed at your convenience, as often as required, before, during, and after the transition. The following training materials will enable you to perform the essential functions being replaced by Workday. The Modernization Initiative recommends employees complete their review of these training essentials prior to December 11, 2020.

These are suggested priorities for Workday training to help you prioritize, but you are welcome to customize for your own needs. Additional training recommended for all faculty and staff are available under “All Employees” in the Workday Training Catalog.
