New SMS step in Faculty job application process

We’ve updated the Faculty job application process to ensure the Sexual Misconduct Statement (SMS) process is followed for Federal Grant/Contract Funded positions.

Applicants are required to go through an SMS screening prior to an offer of employment. Additionally, positions that are Federal Grant/Contract Funded are required to be offered contingent upon successful background check, prior to conducting the background check. Due to this change, Faculty offers had to be manually communicated with HRS to start the SMS process prior to the offer.

A new SMS Process stage has been added to the Faculty process. Please note the following:

  • For positions that are Not Federal Grant/Contract Funded and do not require a background check, please send applicants to the SMS Process stage prior to Offer/Employment Agreement.
  • For positions that are Not Federal Grant/Contract Funded and do require a background check, please send applicants to the Background Check stage prior to Offer/Employment Agreement. Note: For not federal grant/contract funded positions that require a background check, the SMS process will be completed at the background check phase.
  • For positions that are Federal Grant/Contract Funded regardless of the background check requirement, please send applicants to the SMS Process stage prior to Offer/Employment Agreement.

Information regarding the SMS Guidelines can be found here. For information about how to complete the SMS process in Workday, visit the Manage Job Application reference guide.
