Reminder: Use Personal Holiday and Holiday Credit by Dec. 31

Civil Service, Nonpermanent Scheduled, and Nonpermanent Nonscheduled employees who have not used their Personal Holiday, Personal Holiday Credit, or Holiday Credit must do so by December 31, 2023.

In accordance with BPPM 60.57, the Personal Holiday for Civil Service and Nonpermanent Scheduled (NPS) employees, and Personal Holiday Credit for Nonpermanent Nonscheduled (NPNS) employees, must be used by December 31, 2023 or it will be forfeited. Employees must enter their Personal Holiday or Personal Holiday Credit on their Absence Calendar by December 31, 2023.

NPNS employees must use any accrued Holiday Credit time off by December 31, 2023. Available Holiday Credit that is not used by December 31, 2023 will be paid to the employee. (WAC 357-28-301) Holiday Credit earned in December 2023 will be available for the employee to use in January 2024. 

Beginning December 1, 2023, a new Workday alert will be sent to any employees who have not yet used their Personal Holiday or Holiday Credit time, reminding them to do so. HR Partners and Time Approvers will also receive notification when the employees they support have unused Personal Holiday or Holiday Credit time. Currently, these notifications will only be sent in regards to an employee’s primary position.
