Known Issue: Time Entry validation malfunctioning

Known Issue: The soft error on the time entry calendar intended to alert employees and Time Approvers that time entered through the Time Clock feature has been edited is malfunctioning and has been removed.

Time to Resolution: Unknown.

Details: The soft error on the time entry calendar in Workday, intended to alert employees and Time Approvers that time entered through the Time Clock (clock in, clock out) feature has been edited, is not being triggered accurately.

After extensive research, we were able to identify the issue causing this malfunction. Unfortunately, there is no solution at this time, therefore we have removed the alerts.

Moving forward, to assist Time Approvers in identifying employees who have edited time blocks that were entered using Time Clock, please run the report CR ABS Time Block Audit, and follow the directions below. This is only necessary if your department requires hourly employees to enter time through the Time Clock, and needs to know when a time block has been updated.

Steps for running CR ABS Time Block Audit Report:

  1. Run report for appropriate parameters (see image below for recommended prompts).
    • Adding the Time Clock as the source field will limit your results to only time that was entered through the time clock.

  1. Export to Excel.
  2. Filter by Historical Status column to only include “Updated.”
    • This only returns time blocks that have had a status of “Updated.” If prompting for Time Clock, this will return all time blocks entered through the Time Clock with a status of “Updated.”
  3. Review the “Time Block Comment” column for any information of why it was updated and investigate any time blocks that don’t have comments.
    • Note: We recommend going directly to the time block history for more history information if needed.
