WSU finalist for Workday North America Customer Awards

Modernization is thrilled to announce that Washington State University has been named a finalist in the 2024 Workday North America Customer Awards, nominated by Deloitte and Workday for the development of the university’s innovative Adaptive Grants Forecasting tool.

Workday Customer Awards recognize organizations using Workday in innovative and inspiring ways to address issues that are particularly important to their respective industry. WSU is a finalist alongside Lowe’s Companies, Inc. and Thompson Reuters media agency in the Powering Innovation category. The award winner will be announced September 18 at the 2024 Workday Rising conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In August 2023, Modernization and Deloitte announced their collaboration to develop a new grants forecasting tool for WSU using Adaptive Planning. Launching January 10, 2024, Adaptive Grants Forecasting allows researchers and grants administrators to review and project future expenses and remaining balances on their grants. In their nomination of WSU, Deloitte states of Adaptive Grants Forecasting:

“The forecasting tool is an industry-leading example of leveraging Workday Adaptive Planning to enhance and maximize an institutions investment in Workday Grants Management.”

Lead Analyst for Grants, Christine Galbreath, and Gerik Kimble, Director for Financial Systems Modernization, will represent WSU at this year’s Workday Rising, where they will present a session about Adaptive Grants Forecasting to an international audience of Workday customers in Higher Education and other industries.

Additionally, Christine and Gerik will present a session about Adaptive Grants Forecasting, alongside Alexander Carlson of Deloitte, as part of the NACUBO 2024 Planning, Budgeting, and Analytics Forum in Chicago on September 24.

Modernization thanks the many members of the university community who provided valuable input, examples, and subject matter expertise which shaped the vision for Workday Adaptive Grants Forecasting, including representative from CAHNRS, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. This nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication of WSU employees to the improvement and innovation of business processes and systems for WSU.

Modernization would also like to recognize the members of its team whose efforts helped bring Workday Adaptive Grants Forecasting to the WSU community, as well as Deloitte and consultants Nigel Chong-You, Ryan Loftus, and Alex Carlson for their collaboration and partnership throughout the development of this innovate tool.
