Workday for WSU turns 3
In January 2024, Workday for WSU has been live for 3 years. We’d like to take a moment to look back at how far we’ve come since launch—and to say thank you.
In 2018, WSU selected Workday as our new system for finance, human resources, payroll, and grants administration, replacing our former system of 30+ years, AIS. In 2019, the project to design and build Workday began. In December 2020 and January 2021, we launched Workday for HR, then Finance.
Building a system to serve the diverse business needs of a growing research university wasn’t easy. Along with the Modernization team and our implementation partners, Deloitte, hundreds of WSU staff and faculty lent a hand toward launching Workday. Three years later, the WSU community continues to participate in workgroups and as collaborators in designing and improving Workday features, processes, and training materials, such as Adaptive Planning and the new Grants Forecasting Tool.
We’d like to thank these dedicated employees for sharing their time, expertise, and effort toward ensuring Workday continues to meet the needs of the broader university community. We couldn’t do it without you.
Together, in the past three years, we’ve been able to:
- Dramatically improve certain business processes, such as Effort Certification.
- Greatly reduce the amount of paper WSU uses for business processes.
- Participate as a leading voice in key conversations about Workday for higher education.
- Hold Elevating Cougs, the largest-ever in-house employee development event, with HRS’ Learning & Organizational Development.
- Expand and improve the Workday Service Desk and Knowledge Base.
- Grow our library of training resources to 440 regularly updated reference guides, 70 recorded trainings, and ongoing instructor-led trainings.
- Distribute the Workday Digest to over 7,000 subscribers each month.
If you’ve read the Workday Digest, submitted a Workday Service Desk ticket, used a reference guide, watched a training recording, or attended Elevating Cougs, thank you!
The continued success of Workday is a university-wide effort. We’re looking forward to continuing to work together to ensure Workday and all related training and communications resources meet the evolving needs of the WSU community. Employees with questions or feedback regarding Workday are always welcome to reach out to us via the Workday Service Desk.
Thank you, and Happy Holidays from Modernization!
