Time, Leave, and Workday

Workday’s launch is quickly approaching. Here are answers to your top questions about time and leave.

What happens on December 16 when Workday launches?

  • All employees will begin entering time off in Workday.
  • Overtime eligible employees (including hourly!) will begin entering time worked in Workday.
  • Make sure to enter your time worked starting with the beginning of that week (December 13) into Workday, even if it duplicates what’s on your paper time card.
  • Enter all your time off and leave for the month of December into Workday, even those that occurred before December 16.

How do we track time and leave for December 1 through 15?

December 1-15: all time and leave will be tracked on paper time cards. Once Workday launches on December 16, make sure to enter all your time off and leave for the month of December in Workday, even those that occurred during December 1-15.

How will leave without pay (LWOP) be handled for December 1 through 15?

It will be handled the same way you submit LWOP now. Record it on your paper time card and send to HRS for review. On December 16, you will begin tracking LWOP in Workday.

How will overtime (OT) be handled for December 1 through 15?

It will be handled the same way you submit OT now. Record it on your paper time card and send to Payroll. The week of December 16 will be the first week to track OT in Workday.

What do I do with paper time cards?

Keep them. Paper time cards must be retained by the department after we launch and will continue to be audited by HRS, along with their Workday record, at employee separation.
