Enhancements to Period schedule searching

On March 15, Workday will implement enhancements to search functionality for “Period” prompts on reports and tasks.

When selecting periods to include in the “Period” prompt of reports and tasks (ex. CR PAY Payroll Accounting Detail, Create Payroll Accounting Adjustment), users may now employ searches to target the periods they are looking for, instead of having to scroll through the list of periods available for selection.

These include:

  • Search by year (YYYY)
    • Searches based on year will only return payroll periods that fall within the selected year (ex. 2024 returns 12/16/2023 – 12/31/2023 through 12/01/2024 – 12/15/2024).
  • Search by month and year (MM/YYYY)
    • Searches based on month and year will only return payroll periods that fall within the selected combination (ex. 03/2024 returns 03/01/2024 – 03/15/2024 and 03/16/2024 – 03/31/2024).
  • Search based on a date (MM/DD/YYYY)
    • Searches based on a specific date that is either the start or end date of the period will return only that specific payroll period (ex. 03/01/2024 OR 03/15/2024 will both return the 03/01/2024 – 03/15/2024 pay period).
      • Note: If the date searched for is neither the period start or end date, it will not return in the search, even if the date is contained within the period (ex. 03/10/2024 will not return any results because the date is not the start or end date of a period).
  • Search based on a month’s identifier (ex. 03, Mar, March, etc.)
    • Searches based on a months’ numeric identifier, abbreviated name, or full name will return all payroll periods that fall within the selected month.
