Issue Resolved: January 2022 ledger period inadvertently opened

Known Issue: Modernization was made aware of an accounting issue which occurred during normal monthly ledger period status updates. The Controller’s Office and Modernization are currently investigating to identify impacted transactions.

Time to Resolution: Resolved.

Details: During normal monthly ledger period status updates, the January 2022 ledger period was inadvertently opened, allowing a number of transactions to post back into the old year. Modernization was made aware of this issue and worked with the Controller’s Office to correct affected transactions.

The solution included correction journals and payroll accounting adjustments. Both involved reversals in Jan FY22 to offset the erroneous transactions. Then, transactions were re-posted to Jan FY23 to ensure the accounting occurred in the correct period.

The following journal IDs were involved and may be used for reference:

FY22 Reversals:

  • JE0000177065 – Actuals
  • JE0000177062 – Commitments
  • JE0000177064 – Obligations

FY23 Re-postings:

  • JE0000177069 – Actuals
  • JE0000177066 – Commitments
  • JE0000177068 – Obligation
