Workday Tips & Tricks: Stabilization

For this week’s tips and tricks, we will define what it means to now be in the Workday Stabilization period, as well as provide community resources for continuing to learn the new system together.

During Stabilization, we will work to problem solve and adjust to challenges or ”hiccups” as they occur in the system. This process will help the community learn and practice using Workday.

The Stabilization period will likely take a year or longer, with Optimization to follow. More details about the Optimization will be released in the coming months.

Often when organizations go through significant changes, like transitioning to Workday, employees may face what is called the “Valley of Despair.” The University might see a dip in productivity or performance while adjusting to this new workflow.

The Modernization Team recognizes that change is hard. If the University works together to acknowledge the reality of this valley, we can overcome the challenges we may face from the new system. This handout outlines steps to support your team during this time.

Workday may not function perfectly at first. Stabilization is a time to find what’s not working. The team actively works to fix any issues that may come up. Check out the Workday Known Issues web page to learn more.
