New process for Postdoctoral Academic Appointments

Effective immediately, departments must complete the “Adjusted Title Start Date” field in Workday for academic appointments with a Track Type of “Postdoctoral.”

The date entered should reflect the employee’s earliest date as a Postdoctoral Employee (PDE):

  • If the employee has no prior postdoctoral experience at another institution, enter the employee’s initial WSU postdoctoral appointment start date; or
  • If the employee has prior postdoctoral experience at another institution, enter the earliest date the employee began a postdoctoral appointment at any institution.

This requirement applies only to academic appointments with a Postdoctoral track type. Non-postdoctoral track types are not able to use the “Adjusted Title Start Date” field in Workday.

This process will support compliance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), including provisions related to the duration of postdoctoral appointments.
