HRS to close unfilled and unbudgeted salaried positions in August

In early August, following the position budget being loaded into Workday, HRS Modernization will consider any salaried positions identified as both unfilled and unbudgeted (with no associated budget allocation) as inactive. These positions will be immediately closed in Workday without a review period.

After this process is completed:

• Any salaried position that is unfilled and does not have an associated budget will be closed. These include open (vacant) salaried positions with the following parameters:
  • No position budget.
  • No future fill date.
  • Are not part of an in-progress, open, or future job requisition.
  • Were created before 5/6/2026.
• Closed positions will not be reopened.
• If a department later determines that a position that was closed is needed, a new position must be submitted and approved through the standard position creation process.

This initiative helps maintain accurate position data and ensures that active position records align with current staffing needs and approved budget allocations.
