Updates to PTO with a Mid-Cycle Comp Change and retroactive Leave Without Pay

Prior to February 16, 2025, a known issue occurred in instances wherein an employee had a mid-cycle compensation change as well as time off within the same pay cycle and/or sub-period, including holidays. As a result of this issue, compensation changes created an additional sub-period, and time off would be applied to both sub periods resulting in an underpayment. Manual intervention was needed to prevent this from occurring.

Workday has rolled out an update to address this issue and ensure that in these situations, a time off only applies to the appropriate sub period. Effective 2/16, this update has been implemented in Workday for WSU, and manual intervention is no longer required.

In addition, we have also addressed an issue involving retroactive changes to Leave Without Pay (P_LWOP). Prior to resolving this issue, if an employee changed unpaid leave to a paid leave retroactively, it required manual intervention by Payroll Services to ensure that the employee was paid the owed wages. We have disabled Retro Leave Without Pay (P_RLWOP) and enabled retro calculations on LWOP as a solution to this issue. We have also created an Academic version of the earning (P_LWOP_A) to ensure all time calculates correctly.

Please note that moving forward, all LWOP, whether current or retroactive, will populate on an employee’s pay results as LWOP. Please review the PEARs report carefully for any retroactive LWOP and take any necessary action. Instead of P_RLWOP, the corresponding negative regular earnings for the affected retro pay period will be displayed.

*Due to the effective date of this change, 2/16/2025, there may be some cycles for which see both earnings are visible.
