Review Okta MFA options by 3/25 to avoid being locked out of WSU accounts
On March 25, 2025, WSU ITS is removing both SMS (text message) and voice call multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods used for logging into WSU resources. WSU account users continuing to use the SMS or voice call as their sole authentication method will be locked out of their account.
This change impacts all WSU employees and affiliates who use WSU systems such as myWSU, Percipio, Workday, and Workday related systems, including Adaptive Planning, and non-production tenants used for testing and preview, such as WSU Sandbox.

Any Workday tenant users who have not established an alternative MFA method before 8 a.m. on March 25 will be unable to log in and perform actions in Workday. Individuals locked out of their account(s) will be required to contact the Crimson Service Desk to regain access.
These lockouts could potentially cause interruptions to the smooth and timely flow of essential business processes, including:
- Time and absence requests, entry, or approval
- Initiation or approval of any finance, HR, or payroll actions
- Workday reporting
- Employee-as-self tasks
- Accessing tax documents or payslips
- Testing, preview, and configuration work across all WSU Workday tenants
- Access to grants information and grants administration tasks
To avoid being locked out of WSU accounts and systems, Modernization is encouraging all employees and affiliates who use Workday to review their active MFA settings and select one or more of the viable authentication methods available.
Managers are also encouraged to ensure those they supervise, including student and hourly employees, have reviewed and updated their MFA options to ensure they are able to enter time and perform employee-as-self tasks without interruption.
