Workday Success Stories: Workday makes planning easier for WSU departments

From daily tasks to important annual events, Workday enables departments to more easily plan for and conduct activities across all functional areas.

Since the launch of Workday, WSU staff and the Modernization team have worked together to determine timelines for Finance and HCM events that occur on a monthly, semester, or yearly basis. Through integrated tools like Adaptive Planning, automated reports and tasks, and improved access to real-time information, Workday continues to enable units to better plan and make informed business decisions throughout the year.

Workday allows units to more easily plan for and execute activities, including:

  • Payroll cutoff
  • Fiscal year end
  • Budgeting and financial planning
  • HR mass actions
  • Position and compensation actions

The Elevating Cougs conference offers three opportunities for employees to learn more about how to maximize their use of Workday to help their areas organize their calendars:

  • Calendar Planning and Best Practices
    • During this session, Modernization will share helpful reports and processes, and the timelines actions need to happen within for important Finance and HCM events that happen once a year, every semester, and every month.
  • How to Make Payroll Cutoff a Stress Free Deadline
    • Central Payroll and Modernization talk about helpful tools and actions to take for successful Payroll Cut Offs.
  • Budgets & Adaptive Planning
    • Users of the budget planning tool Adaptive Planning can attend this session to learn more about Adaptive and position budgets.

Employees are encouraged to register for Elevating Cougs and explore sessions offered in the Workday Success Stories conference track for more opportunities to learn about Workday at WSU.

Elevating Cougs is brought to you by Modernization and HRS’ Learning & Organizational Development. The conference will be held virtually October 19 & 20, 2023.
