Issue: Revenues and receivables

Known Issue: You may have noticed that some of your revenues and receivables appear to be missing in Workday. We are working to load these revenues and receivables, and will update you when this is complete.

Expected Time of Resolution: We expect to have these revenues loaded by the end of March.

Details: With the implementation of Workday, accounting from the student information system (myWSU) is now fully integrated into our financial system. This is a long-awaited feature that allows for full accrual accounting.

Changing our accounting affected how revenue posts. In legacy systems, posted revenue would be recognized as accrued revenue and/or undistributed revenue which did not post to the budget/project. Now, it’s recognized as revenue. This means that revenue is recognized in the cost center/program when charged in myWSU, generally when tuition is calculated and posted. This change impacted conversion and cutover to Workday, as the Spring 2021 term posted in December in the legacy system to accrued revenue and/or undistributed revenue rather than to revenue.

To correct this, General Accounting will post a journal entry to move the accrued revenue and/or undistributed revenue to revenue in cost centers/programs. They will also be working to determine and account for uncollectible balances.

We thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
