Moving forward after second poll results
In the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020, the Modernization Initiative launched a poll to assess employee readiness for the change to Workday.
The Modernization Readiness Poll measured general awareness and understanding of the project among faculty, graduate students, and staff.
The results encouraged the Modernization team to focus on increasing awareness and understanding about the project.
The Modernization team took action to bridge the gap between awareness and understanding by broadening communications to wider audiences, regularly posting to the WSU Insider, and sharing facts and figures surrounding the project.
The second poll was launched in February to measure the WSU community’s awareness and understanding of the project after those implementations.
Results from both polls will allow the Modernization team to make further improvements to increase awareness and understanding of the project among the wider WSU community.
Comparing the results
With an increased focus on spreading awareness and understanding of the project, the Modernization team expected the second poll to reveal increased rates of awareness about the project timeline, an increased desire for information on training, and an overall increase in positive responses among groups.
Results demonstrated a significant increase in the Compelling Mission from Poll 1 to Poll 2.
Responses on awareness of the timeline for the project had a significant increase across all groups from Poll 1 to Poll 2.
Results revealed an increased desire for information on training. Across all open-text responses in the second poll, the word “training” was submitted 107 times.
Statements like “I am confident in the resources available to me to support changes in my work concurrent with Workday” received lower scores across all groups on the second poll compared to the first.
As anticipated, there was an overall increase in the rate of positive responses among all poll questions from the first to second poll.
Furthermore, participants exhibited lower confidence in their ability to learn how to perform processes in Workday along with an increased need for more exposure to Workday.
Going forward
The Modernization team has plans to improve areas where respondents expressed need for more understanding and information.
To increase awareness of the timeline, the Modernization team now publishes a roundup of Modernization resources once a month in the WSU Insider. To respond to the desire for more information on training, the Modernization Team now publishes a monthly training update on the blog. Readers can see all of these posts by visiting modernization.wsu.edu/tags/training.
To address the desire for more exposure to Workday, the Modernization Team will create additional reference videos on the system interface navigation and various functionalities of Workday.
