Updated deadline for comp time

If you can earn compensatory (comp) time or have a comp time balance, it is important to note the deadline to use or pay out the accrued comp time is shifting.

  • Comp time must be used or paid out by December 11, 2020.

What is happening?

Starting in December, the University will begin using Workday, a new system for finance, human resources, payroll, and grants management. To make this transition, all comp time needs to be used or paid out. Learn more on the Implementation Decisions page.

What do I need to do?

Work with your department to request comp time or request a pay out of any comp time accruals by December 11, 2020. You can also follow the process outlined in the Business Policies and Procedures Manual to cash out your comp time.

What if I earn comp time after December 11, 2020?

If a department authorizes an employee to earn comp time, the comp time must be earned between December 12 and December 16. These requests will be manually processed after December 31 and will be approved on a case-to-case basis. Make sure to notify Human Resource Services to request comp time during this period.

What’s next?

After Workday is implemented, the system will automatically track and calculate comp time earned, balances, and payments. Comp time will be paid out after January 1, 2021. Like before, you will be able to earn, use, and get paid out for comp time.
