Frequently Asked Questions
In Winter 2022, the Bursar’s Office launched TouchNet, the new system for electronic payment services for WSU student accounts, including student payments, parent pay, stored payment profiles, access to real-time account balances, account activity, and more.
On April 16, 2025, the Bursar’s Office will implement TouchNet eRefunds as the system for electronic refunds for student account and financial aid funds.
TouchNet eRefunds will return excess funds (financial aid, check, cash, eCheck) on a student’s account, with the exception of credit card refunds. Excess funds resulting from credit card payments will continue be refunded back to the original card.
At this time, Parent Plus Loans will continue to be refunded to parents/guardians, and not through a student account.
Currently, student direct deposit information is stored within myWSU, while TouchNet serves as the main system for Student Accounts and Payment Plans. The move to TouchNet eRefunds supports the consolidation of business systems and processes. Switching to paperless transactions reduces administrative burden and material waste, and helps you get your refund quicker and easier.
eRefunds are the recommended method of reimbursement for student account funds. eRefunds allow money to be direct deposited to an account with a financial institution of your choosing, with an average turnaround time of 1-2 business days.
While you may still opt to receive a paper check, please be aware of the risk that mailed paper checks may be delayed, lost, or destroyed in the mailing process, and that issuing a replacement check may delay when you receive your refund. If you plan on receiving a paper check, please review your mailing information in myWSU to ensure mailed materials are delivered to the correct address.
Students may sign up for eRefunds at any time after April 16, 2025.
To support this change, the Bursar’s Office and Modernization have prepared resources providing guidance on completing the signup process. These include:
Students who do not sign up for eRefunds through TouchNet on or after June 30, 2025, will receive refunds via paper check.
